Jo's Stamping Spot - Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop - Australia

Welcome! Today I am joining in a Guest Designer for my friend Kelly Kent's Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop! The theme for the hop is Australia, which is really suitable at the moment with Australia Day being on January 26 and all the horrible devastation that is happening here right now.

Jo's Stamping Spot - Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop - Australia

I decided to take inspiration from those horrible headlines surrounding the Australian bushfires for my card for this hop and I used the kangaroo and koala image from the Animal Outing stamp set, two animals which have really been impacted by our fires.

My card started with the idea for the waterecoloured embossed layer. I took a piece of the Fluid 100 watercolour paper and after cutting it to size I spritzed it lightly and put it through the Big Shot with the Layered Leaves 3D embossing folder. Using Granny Apple Green and Garden Green inks I watercoloured the raised leaves from the embossing with the two colours, gradually increasing the colour as it dried.

The kangaroo and koala were stamped in Memento and coloured using different Stampin' Blends (shown below in the 'ingredients'). I layered some die-cut leaves behind the raised main layer and a simple embossed sentiment which I think perfectly sums up the image and how Aussies who haven't been immediately impacted by the fires feel for those who have.
