Wow, are we getting through this year or what?! Can you believe it's April already? Well it's Friday again and that means it's new challenge time at Just Add Ink! This week we have a sketch challenge from Tina!
I really love a good sketch because not only can I choose what supplies I use but you have to get really creative! For this challenge I've opened a new set called Butterfly Gala. You've probably seen it everywhere as it has been one of the most popular bundles in the Occasions catalogue!
Well this card needed to be really special because my darling daughter turned 15 on March 11th and this was her birthday card. Of course she knows my hobby so when I asked her for 3 favourite colours from my collection she knew instantly why and chose Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Pool Party (and of course Black and White), colours after my own heart!
I mixed a little old with mostly new for this card deciding to use some of the beautiful Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut DSP for my background thinking it was perfect for this design that I had in mind. The butterflies were stamped, punched and then coloured with matching Stampin' Blends and placed to match the sketch. I got a bit fancy (trying to channel me some Rochelle Blok, Jackie Aitken or Narelle Farrugia - Artisan demos at JAI) with the layering of the circles and sentiment, especially the Butterfly wood element which I would never have otherwise thought of using! Lastly I added some of the Butterfly Gala sequins. I am really pleased with the end result and know it's just my daughter's style. She loved the card and apart from having to go to school she had a great day!
Thanks for stopping by to check out my project and of course check out all the other wonderful DT cards over on the JAI blog! Have a great week!
